Collocational Competence as a measure of ESL / EFL Competency: A Scoping Review

The purpose of this review is to identify the appropriate strategies or methodologies that can help address those problems related collocational competence amongst English as a Second Language (ESL) and Foreign (EFL) learners. topic needs be explored given having would advantage language learners attain second foreign fluency. Collocational in fact reliable indicator high proficiency level. Numerous studies found most are still facing difficulties mastering different types collocations. This problem seems unending despite major advancements teaching technologies. Therefore, new exciting ways learning collocations cater students’ individual useful for teachers should devised. A scoping protocol was established study. total 21 articles from 2010 2020 were qualitatively synthesised. Of 21, nine on corpus-based methodology, eight traditional methods three discussing other relevant focus solving lack isolated analysed. findings suggested implementing an indirect corpus approach classrooms may suitable practical almost all levels whilst consuming limited amount resources. use corpora beneficial it also offers references explore adopt teach.
